I love making wreaths. They add so much cheer to my house! And cheer is something we could certainly use right about now. Since we have no idea what Halloween will really look like this year because of the pandemic, I’m ready to go overboard with decor. I pinned a similar spooky wreath years back that was for sale on etsy. I set my crafty hands to work and made this awesome spooky skeleton wreath – a perfect Halloween DIY. You can make one too with a few easy steps. Check it out.

Supplies

Foam Wreath

Gauze Bandage Rolls – I used 6 for my wreath. The more you use, the bulkier your wreath will look. It’s up to you!

Pair of Skeleton Hands

Fishing Line

Black Tulle

Silver Ribbon

Purple Ribbon

Hot Glue Gun & Extra Glue Sticks

Instructions

Begin by taking two rolls of the bandages and cover your styrofoam wreath.

Once you’ve completely wrapped the wreath in bandages begin tearing and pulling the cloths. You want it to look disheveled. Go crazy – you can’t overdo this part.

Take the next four rolls of bandages and cut them into 4-6 inch pieces. These don’t need to be exact. Just make them short enough that it’s easy for you to manipulate them.

Pull and tear all of your bandage pieces before you attach them to the wreath. You can use scissors to cut the ends and get them to fray more. Wrap each of the pieces around the wreath to add bulk. You can glue the pieces on the back or just tuck them into the already wrapped bandage pieces.

Next, grab your skeleton hands and run fishing line through the hole. Then tie the fishing line around the top of the wreath.

Take your silver ribbon and begin making your bow. If you’re like me, you may need a reminder every time you make a bow. If so, use this one here.

Then cut four pieces of black tulle. Distress them like you did the bandages. Then glue to the back of the silver bow. Repeat with four pieces of purple ribbon.

Glue the bow to your wreath. Then arrange ribbon pieces around the outside and front of the wreath. To add a little bit more effect I pulled and frayed the ends of the silver and purple ribbon.

Yippee! Now you’ve got a perfect spooky Halloween wreath for your front door!
