It’s easy to think Fall is just around the corner. But for us Floridians we know better. Our endless summer will stretch a few more months. This summer has been particularly challenging upending our normal summer respite routine (aka find as many indoor air-conditioned activities around town as possible). How do we pass the time enjoyably without going stir crazy? Our answer – just add water! Now many of our days have devolved into just letting the kids have at it with the hose. But we’ve also found quite a few ways to cool down and have a blast outside with a few select purchases. Take a look below!

Kiddie Pool

We don’t have a pool so we are continually trying out our makeshift options to cool us down. While I’m convinced a stock tank pool is the answer to all our problems, we have found a little blow-up one does the trick for our littles. Of course they’re always looking for ways to make it more exciting. We started putting our little tykes slide in for extra splashy fun.

Splash Pad

This one is perfect for little kids. Our sweet friends introduced us to it and all the kids were enthralled.

Squirt Guns

I don’t know who has more fun with this, the kids or their dad. The kids squirt each other, the plants, the road, the squirrels. You name it, they’re aiming for it.

Water Sprinkler

We hook this sprinkler up to the hose at least three times a week. It lasted much longer than I could have imagined. We bought it three summers ago! One word of warning is the kids can easily move this around. I often find them dragging it into the dip in our driveway to make a muddy puddle. Which reminds me, grab a pair of rain boots for the kids. They’ll save your sanity.

Scribble Scrubbie Pets

This is a weird one – but hear me out. We have an annual pass to Crayola Experience and bring home a scribble scrubbie after every visit. The kids love them and are occupied for much longer than I ever expected. I realized we could take this outside, set up a few very big tubs for scribble scrubbie baths and let them have it. Such a surprising success!
