Where to go to put the littles to work!

Looking for a family activity that doesn’t cost very much and teaches kids about where food grows? Spend a morning at a U Pick Farm in Central Florida. Blueberry season generally opens around April and lasts a couple months. Strawberries have a very brief season happening now through April, so don’t miss them!

If those aren’t the jam in your house (some dad humor- deal with it!), here are some Peach Pickin’ farms with fruit that is also currently in season:

Packing List:

  • Water- for drinking and to wash off any fruit your little ones might want to shove in their mouth before getting back home.
  • Sunscreen and UV protective clothing.
  • Bug repellent.
  • Clothes and shoes that can get messy and dirty.
  • Extra wipes to clean hands that have been rooting around in all the nature.
  • If you have a long drive, or aren’t’ returning home right away, bring a cooler to keep the fruit fresh in your car.

Pro Tip:

  • Those baskets fill up fast. You’ll be shocked when you go to weigh in how much you’ve picked! When you get home, portion out your fruit into small baggies and freeze them.  They last for a long time and will be great for smoothies and other recipes.
