Something I’ve grown very comfortable with in motherhood is takeout. While I love to go out to eat, three kids is a lot to coordinate in a public setting when we’re hangry. We’ve been trying to keep things fresh by expanding our take out routine. The truth is, your girl could eat Tijuana Flats every day through the end of time. So it takes a little thoughtfulness to ensure we’re seeking new horizons.

One tip I have, aside from that you should eat from the restaurants listed below, is that I made a list and put it up on the fridge. I found that Dadlando and I would see lots of things on social media and say we wanted to eat there but then kept forgetting what they were once it was time to order. So imagine that, a piece of paper on the fridge was all we needed to solve it. Simple problem, simple solutions right?

Note: If your kids are not dinosaurs during dinner time or you just enjoy dining out as a family – awesome! Dine-in. Have a blast. But be extremely kind to the restaurant staff doing the most to serve you. They’re cleaning up the floor afterwards.

Harrell’s Hot Dogs & Cold Cones

54 W. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL 34787

Dadlando needed to make a stop for coffee beans at Axum Coffee so I couldn’t resist planning a stop at Harrell’s. They’ve got four dog options (even vegan!), several bun options, and tons of toppings. I chose an all-beef dog on a brioche bun with grilled onions, potato stix, and cheese sauce. The kids dogs aren’t pictured but they also got potato stix. And let me tell you their little minds were blown that you could put chips on top of a hot dog! Once we started eating all I could think of were more combinations I could make next time. There’s no better sign than that!

Light on the Sugar Bakery

4270 Aloma Ave Suite 112, Winter Park, FL 32792

This has to be one of the most talked about spots in the foodie Facebook groups I’m in, so we were long overdue to check this out. The desserts may be light on the sugar as the name implies, but they’re the perfect amount of sweet and delicious. Light on the Sugar has classic pastries you know and love but often with an Asian twist. Like the matcha tart pictured above. The strawberry cake roll and cap’n crunch cream puff were our favorites.

Ootoya Sushi

W State Rd 436 #1016, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714

I love sushi, but I was a little worried it might not travel well to my house. Once we decided it was sushi time, I knew my favorite sushi restaurant had to be the place.  Ootoya Sushi in Altamonte has the kindest servers, a great lake view, and beautiful clean dining room. I want you to know these things so that whether you get takeout, you go visit them for dine-in. The delicious sushi traveled perfectly to our house and lived up to all my cravings. Make sure you get the mango tango roll!

Paris Banh Mi Cafe Bakery

1021 E Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32803

French-Vietnamese fusion at a fantastic price point. Seriously, the bahn mi sandwich pictured is just $5. Lots of options for your perfect sammie, plus pastries, coffees, teas, and slushies. We’ve been loving the grilled pork bahn mi and I thought the mango slushy was especially delicious.

Pass Progressive Cuisine

970 Sunshine Lane Suite C, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714

I’ll be honest, I wanted to eat this so badly I forgot to take photos. But here’s the photo that sucked me in and changed our dinner plans entirely on a Friday night. I never had heard of Lobster Birria Ramen but it was everything I needed in life. Spicy soup, noodles, and perfectly cooked lobster. All my favorite things.

The Ravenous Pig

565 W Fairbanks Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789

We’re loving their nightly dinner specials and have tried out two so far. The dinner for two comes with salad, main course, side, and dessert. There’s plenty of food to leave everyone satisfied. Dadlando is a self-proclaimed prime rib expert so we had to check out the Saturday night special. It was really delicious. I was really impressed by the wedge salad, scallion potato pancake side, and cake. Next we ordered on a Thursday night – Lobster carbonara (I really like lobster if you cant tell). This was insane and is definitely one of the top picks of any takeout we’ve had.
