School is back in session and on top of the 20 other things you’ve added to your to-do list you might be worrying about your little one’s social calendar. Do they have friends? Do they need a play date? And where are the kids with a mom you’re going to click with for a win-win afternoon?
While you’re busy scouting out who is going on the playdate, we’ve got ideas for you on having some fun in Orlando once you get it all booked. There are so many great playdate ideas in Central Florida. Have some fun at one of these:
Picnic at Kraft Azalea Gardens: This park is gorgeous and we love any excuse to go here. Bring a blanket, snacks and drinks, a ball or frisbee, and relax in the shade. If you are so inclined take turns taking some photos of each other with your kiddos. It’s such a picturesque spot and perfect for a photo sesh. The park is often the site of weddings and rowing events so there may be some great people watching for you too.
Winter Park casual: Head to Orange Ave. in Winter Park where you’ll find Foxtail Coffee, Create your Nature, and The Bear and Peacock Brewstillery. Just a very short walk away is Buttermilk Bakery. Grab an assortment of drinks and treats and chill out on the lawn in front of The Brewstillery. The kids can play and the moms can chat. Bring a game to keep the kids entertained. If your kids are of a playground loving age we recommend heading over to the Azalea Lane Playground just down the road.
Artsy afternoon: Take the kids to a children’s production at Orlando Shakes or The Rep for some theatrical fun. Or visit Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra’s Symphony Storytime. If you want to visit a museum, the Cornell Fine Arts Museum on campus at Rollins College has a fantastic kids play area. And a mega bonus – it’s totally FREE!
Educational Adventures: Spend a few hours at the Orlando Science Center and check out one of their newest exhibits, watch a movie at the Cinedome, and have fun exploring. There is a food court in the Science Center and also a Panera within walking distance for a lunch break.
Food Trucks made easy: Bring the fam to A La Cart Orlando, meet your friends, buy food and drinks. Relax and enjoy. It’s that simple. But if you want to make it a bit more fun, you can plan to attend one of their many fun events like Monday Movie Night or their upcoming Pumpkin Festival.
