Dads, this one’s for you. Or moms, if you’re reading this forward it on to your partner. Give them a nice strong hint. It goes without saying that we here at Momlando think Mother’s Day is a pretty big deal. If you’re in need of some inspiration on how to plan a great day, we’ve got you covered.

First things first, say nice things.

Things to Say: Look, you have to know moms are just dying to hear that they’re doing a great job. You know that right? Here are some really nice things to say to a mom on Mother’s Day.  Feel free to add some specifics, we’re just trying to get you started here.

  • You are an exceptional mother who does her best for her children and family every day.
  • We are so grateful for the million things you do and worry about in a day for each and everyone of us.
  • Life would be unbearable without you because you are the sun and our family rises and sets around you.
  • Your butt is looking really good lately.

Now go have fun.

Things to Do: We’ll give you some ideas for the day. And they’re good ideas! But I can’t stress enough that you should know your spouse better than me. So don’t take mom out for a fancy brunch if she hates crowds, because Mother’s Day is like the Super Bowl of restaurant days. If you’re taking her to a restaurant – MAKE A RESERVATION. It’s busy y’all! And if mom just needs some rest – let her sleep! Take the kids out for the morning while she gets to lay in bed, alone. Many of our suggestions below require advance purchase and planning – MAKE A RESERVATION.

Now that my rant is over, here are some awesome ideas for a special Mother’s Day.

Artsy and Sweet: Book tickets for your family at the Orlando Rep’s Seussical the Musical and plan a visit across the street to the Mennello Museum of American Art too. The Menello is hosting a FREE family day on Mother’s Day.

Beachy Casual: Head to the beach and fill a cooler with snacks and drinks. Our beach recommendations are New Smyrna Beach with lunch/dinner at J.B.’s Fish Camp or Cocoa Beach with eats at Slow and Low BBQ.

Fancy Shmancy: Take mom to a nice meal at Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort and then surprise her by walking over to the spa and dropping her off for the appointment you booked. Return hours later to a very refreshed and glowing mama.

Farm Adventure: Plan a day trip to HarvestMoon Fun Farm. They have a sunflower maze and lots of adventure waiting for you! Pick a stop for breakfast and yummy snacks along the way. It’s a bit of a drive!

Momlando’s Perfect Day: Start the day at a Bar Method class solo. Come home to pancakes, eggs, and an iced chai latte. Go for a delicious lunch at Winter Park Fish Co. or Swine & Sons. Is both an option? Maybe both. Go for a family walk in Ivanhoe Village with a stop at the playground of course. Take a few family photos along the way. In the evening dad does bath and bedtime for both kiddos. (This is specifically updated from an email I sent to Dadlando two weeks ago…ask for what you want ladies! )

Picture Perfect: Is your last family photo a little dusty? Does mom always beg for a family photo but everyone just rolls their eyes and is uncooperative? Make it up to her with a photo shoot (professional or with your cell phone – up to you!) using our favorite photo spots guide.

The Great Outdoors: Pack a picnic and head out to Bok Tower Gardens. This is a great place for families celebrating together with multiple generations. You can bring food and blankets to share and hang out in a shady spot on the lawn for the afternoon.
