Looking to do some Small Biz Saturday shopping and eating? There are some great local options run by amazing mamas. If you’re making plans to be spoiled this weekend, check these out and show some local love:
Eat
Buttermilk Bakery Winter Park
A mother-daughter-son (Lana, Taissa, and Phillip) trio run the adorable and delicious Buttermilk Bakery. Trust me and just buy one of everything. Maybe two. The most heavenly baked goods in town.
Farm Haus Audubon Park
After a long day of shopping you’re going to need food. Head to East End Market and visit Farm & Haus to pick up something healthy and delicious. Mama Brittany (and husband Patrick) somehow makes healthy food look so delicious and elegant without sacrificing any flavor. You can pick up any day of the week but they also have weeknight delivery for homes within a specified range. Check their website and see if you make the cut.
Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream Audubon Park & SoDo
Well, you know my love for Kelly’s knows no bounds. But imagine my delight when Kelly & Scott had an adorable baby, dressed her up like an ice cream cone, and took a picture. Perhaps that type of thing doesn’t sell you. And to that I say, ok but that’s weird. Just know they have the most delicious flavors of ice cream for insanely reasonable prices. And super friendly staff. See you just have to go there, these are all amazing reasons.
Se7enbites The Milk District
If you’re looking for delectable comfort food, Se7enbites is where you need to be. Trina is a chef and a mom whose flavor combinations are unparalleled. Don’t be intimidated by the line when you get there. It moves fast and is worth the wait. I’ve said it before, Se7enbites is one of my favorite places to bring my kids. My whole family walks away happy and full.
Wear
Avalon Exchange Winter Park
Avalon Exchange is co-owned and run by mama Chelsea. They sell really trendy resale and vintage clothes. The prices are great and you can feel good about recycling clothes (important for so many reasons!) They buy items too so check out what they’re currently buying before you go and maybe you can bring some stuff to unload.
Dora Mae Jewelry Ivanhoe Village
Dora Mae Jewelry is an incredible local business that’s making an impact locally and thousands of miles away. Owner and designer, Ansley is a hard working mom with an adorable shop in Ivanhoe Village. I love seeing how she upcycles vintage pieces and gives them an updated aesthetic. Incredibly, Ansley sources most of her chain from Madagscar where she traveled and taught local artisans to create. She’s brought to them an income and opportunity from across the world. Dora Mae just celebrated 10 wonderful years in business!
Gypset Co. Mobile Boutique
If you’re on instagram, live in Orlando, and have a pulse and don’t know about Gypset then I’m a little confused. Samantha’s mobile boutique is the stuff insta dreams are made of. And her jewelry is gorgeous. I have a few pieces in my drawer and the rest on a wish list.
Rockhaus Metals Online and Local Boutiques
Kristina is a mom of twin toddlers and also happens to make gorgeous jewelry too. She learned metalsmithing and jewelry making as a hobby after her girls were born. Check out her modern minimalist pieces and stay tuned for all about Kristina in an upcoming Moms Who Rock interview.
Need
Fiber Online
Load up on your macrames and knit goods from Fiber. Or you could sign up for a workshop and learn it yourself. Sara is a mom of two and full-time macraslayer. If you follow her on instagram you’ll also get a glimpse into her life which is filled with endearing honesty and vulnerability. And also a lot of coffee.
Illuma Cosmetics College Park Farmers Market & Online
Local Orlando mom Amanda created Illuma Cosmetics, a non toxic beauty brand. She believes things should be simple, minimal, and effective. Her products are all non toxic and most are vegan. The neatest thing is her compacts are magnetic so you can put everything all in one place and just grab and go. And of course a mom who needed to simplify made that up.
Little Wild Bloom Online & Local Shops
In need of pretty flowers for the holiday? Or ever? Stephanie is the flower arranging goddess you need in your life. She’s also mama to Owen, the cutest little red haired toddler I’ve ever seen. Read more about Stephanie and Little Wild Bloom in our Moms Who Rock Interview.
Naked Bar Soap Co. College Park
Natasha and Jennifer create and sell artisan soaps with safe ingredients. Natasha founded the company after her son was born and she started questioning the chemicals in the products she had for him. She got started in the green beauty biz and brought her marketing savvy friend Jennifer in as her business partner.
