Chances are, if we’ve ever had an in-person conversation I’ve mentioned something I recently heard on a podcast. I’m obsessed with them! I spend a lot of time in the car and podcasts have been a saving grace for my sanity. I find myself engaged in what I’m listening to, unperturbed by Orlando’s horrendous traffic, and I check my phone a lot less. These are all big wins! Today I’m sharing many of my favorite podcasts, check them out and enjoy.
30Something with Sonni Abatta: Starting out with some local love, fellow Orlando mama & blogger, Sonni Abatta, talks all things motherhood and life.
Adam Ruins Everything: On his TRU TV show, Adam Conover debunked every single topic you can think of and on his podcast he talks in depth to many of the experts that get 20 seconds of air time on the show. The topics are relevant to my daily life and make me think outside my normal scope.
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard: If there’s one show you subscribe to from my list, make it this one. This podcast is hysterical, emotional, and endlessly fascinating. Dax Shepard and his co-host, Monica Padman, bring celebrities on to chat about their lives. He has a way of engaging with them on such an interesting and vulnerable level. You’ll think about life differently, look at yourself with more honesty, and have a lot more compassion for everyone you meet.
Beautiful Writers Podcast: Linda Silverstein speaks with bestselling authors for chats on spirituality, writing, and all the good messy parts of life. You’ll end each episode with a long reading list that you can’t wait to get started on.
Bravo TV’s The Daily Dish: This podcast is not for everyone, it’s for Bravo TV addicts only. I am a self-proclaimed Bravo addict through and through, so this show was made for me. The co-hosts breakdown the highs and lows of episodes from the week. They interview bravolebrities and give you a behind the scenes scoop straight from the Bravo offices. Fun fact: Once they responded to one of my tweets in an episode! Truly a highlight of my life.
Dead Pilots Society: Andrew Reich and Ben Blacker, TV writers in Hollywood, gather celebrity friends and writers to do table reads of TV pilot scripts that never made it to air. The stories of how the shows get picked up and then dropped are fascinating. And the scripts are great. It always leaves me wishing they’ll get picked up so that I get to hear more of the story!
Don’t Keep Your Day Job: Cathy Heller is sunshine and rainbows wrapped up in a podcast. Each episode has a creative entrepreneur guest about the highs and lows of their career. Cathy inspires people to follow the passions in their life and find their true happiness.
Elise Gets Crafty: I love following Elise on Instagram. She has a great perspective on life and parenting, makes so much cool stuff, and has a really interesting planner business – The Get to Work Book. Her podcast brings all those things to life!
Happier with Gretchen Rubin: The bestselling author of The Happiness Project brings you ideas on how you can bring more happiness into your life. Her ideas for habits, small changes, and perspectives are really interesting. Her sister, Liz Craft co-hosts the show with her. Liz also hosts a spin-off podcast I’ve grown to love called…
Happier in Hollywood: Liz Craft and Sarah Fain are Hollywood writing partners that talk through their careers and personal struggles. I love their enthusiasm, honesty, and willingness to pull back the curtain on the entertainment industry. Many of the lessons they work through are universal to any office and their perspectives as working moms are a highlight as well.
Hidden Brain: This is an NPR podcast that is half story half science mashed together to talk about human behavior. I feel smarter every time I listen and always end curious to learn more.
How I Built This with Guy Raz: Another NPR podcast, and this one is a mega-fav of mine. Guy interviews the entrepreneurs behind all of the hugest companies in the world. It’s a dose of inspiration, hugely entertaining, and makes you realize how much hustle absolutely goes behind every success.
Long Story Short with Bobbi Brown: When you listen to podcasts you tend to pick up new podcasts when they’re being interviewed as a guest. That’s how I found Bobbi Brown’s podcast. Bobbi is a legendary cosmetic industry titan and interviews many celebrities that she knows from that world. She’s an extraordinary mother, very interested in wellness, and a straight shooter.
Raise Your Hand Say Yes with Tiffany Han: This one has been a game changer for me. Tiffany Han’s podcast is a shot of therapy and heck yes every single time. She is funny and engaging, very vulnerable and honest, and deeply committed to helping ladies live their best lives.
Rise Podcast with Rachel Hollis: Of course I read Girl Wash Your Face and became a Rachel Hollis disciple and became fanatical. Didn’t you? If not, go back and read the book and immediately start listening to this podcast. Rachel is prolific and extraordinary but also sounds like your best friend that you could chat on the phone with for hours.
RISE Together Podcast with Rachel Hollis & Dave Hollis: Rachel and her husband Dave Hollis are on a mission to have an extraordinary marriage. And they breakdown a ton of topics that have been stumbling blocks for them. They also talk about their great habits, funny stories, and all the ways they figure out how to do life together.
Sooo Many White Guys: Phoebe Robinson is a hilarious comedian who interviews comedians, celebrities, and thought leaders. One caveat though, she was tired of how many of the people who filled those spaces were white guys so her guests are everyone but…except for that one time she made a totally understandable exception for Tom Hanks. Phoebe is funny and original and her show keeps me laughing the whole way to work.
The Call with Erica Williams Simon: Erica Williams Simon interviews guests that take big leaps into life and answer their true callings. The show is very inspiring and takes in depth looks at the bumpy roads that take you where you want to be. There have not been any new episodes of this podcast since September 2018 but I’m hopeful it’s coming back. Also, I think it’s totally worth listening to past seasons.
The Synced Life Podcast: Kristen Manieri is the local creator of Orlando Date Night Guide and I’m lucky to call her a friend. In real life conversation she drops nuggets of wisdom all the time. When she started a podcast I was sold. Kristen and her guests explore human connection and how to make an impact on ourselves and others.
Where Should We Begin? With Esther Perel: This is one of the oddest podcasts I’ve stumbled upon. Esther Perel was a guest on Dax Shepard’s podcast and I was hooked. She’s a therapist, author, and authority on love and relationships. Each episode is a therapy session between a couple whom she’s never met before. It’s really fascinating to hear couples work through their issues. It’s also sometimes extremely uncomfortable and makes me question if I’m a weirdo for wanting to listen.
