Butterfly lego sculpture at Leu Gardens

Leu Gardens is one of our favorite family activities in downtown Orlando.  The beautiful 50 acre garden has winding path ways and lakeside views to explore making it the perfect place to spend a morning.  Each year they also have a special event that makes exploring even more exciting.  This January, Nature Connects Art with Lego Bricks (by Artist Sean Kenney) opened at the gardens.

The exhibit boasts over 450,000 lego bricks formed into 13 incredible displays.  The kids love building with legos (the baby mainly loves eating them) so they were stoked about the trip.  We packed plenty of snacks and lucked out with a morning of perfect weather.

Leu Gardens and historical home were donated to the City of Orlando in 1961 by Mr. Harry P. Leu and his wife, Mary Jane. Unfortunately the historical home sustained severe damage during Hurricane Irma, so it is not currently open.

Nature Connects is just one of many special events at the gardens including story time, movie nights, and an annual plant sale.  Consider becoming a member when you visit and add it to the list of your favorite family activities in downtown Orlando.  There are lots of perks!
